Vicky Peirce
Hello, my name is Vicky. I joined Church House Veterinary Clinic in January 2004 after coming here to locum for a few months and enjoyed it so much I was delighted to stay on permanently.
I am especially interested in small animal surgery and ophthalmology (the study of eye diseases). In my spare time I often go to the Veterinary School in Cambridge to spend time seeing cases with the ophthalmology specialist there. In the future I may even take more exams to become a certificate holder in ophthalmology, but after studying for 6 years at Cambridge to become a Vet, I’ll not be rushing back into the exam hall just yet!
At present I only have 2 budgies as pets, Mango and Basil. They love to chirp along to pop music and the Eastenders theme tune! I am very soon going to adopt a cat from Wood Green who was hit by a car and paralysed. She has now almost regained full function of her legs due to the care and dedication of the Veterinary Nurses here at Church House and at Wood Green, who have been giving her regular physiotherapy sessions. I just hope she gets along with the budgies!
My family life has always been animals, animals, animals. I grew up on a smallholding where we bred Welsh Mountain ponies and also had a few goats, a couple of Jersey cows, geese and chickens. More recently we have started to show Afghan Hounds with some success, having three competing at Crufts this year. My mother is hoping to have her first Afghan litter soon and I just can’t wait!
